The Adventure Begins: First Steps on the Ancascocha Trek
Start your day with breakfast at your hotel before meeting your guide for the drive to Lecheria (3,240 m / 10,629 ft.), the starting point of your trek. Begin with a steady three-hour ascent, taking in views of golden fields of Andean crops and grazing livestock along the river. Walk through enchanting queña forests, whose twisting trunks lend an otherworldly feel to the landscape.
At Quewñapampa (4,100 m / 13,451 ft.), enjoy a secluded picnic lunch, then continue for three more hours to reach the Lluchani campsite (4,342 m / 14,245 ft.). Upon arrival, join in the “Ofrenda a la Madre Tierra” ceremony to honor Pachamama. Unwind with a hot shower, soothing massage, and personalized spa treatments, followed by a gourmet dinner. End your day in a cozy, heated tent beneath a starlit sky.
The Challenges and Rewards of the Andes: Conquering 2 Alpine Passes
Begin your day with a nourishing breakfast to prepare for the trek’s most challenging day. Start with a 3.5-hour ascent to Accocasa Pass (4,685 m / 15,370 ft.), where you’ll pause to take in the magnificent Andean views. Although not far from Cusco, the remote mountains provide a true sense of solitude. Rest and enjoy a traditional Pachamanca feast for lunch, a centuries-old Peruvian dish where meats, potatoes, and vegetables are marinated, wrapped, and slow-cooked in an earth oven heated with hot stones, infusing the meal with rich, earthy flavors. Afterwards, head to the second pass, Wayanay (4,627 m / 15,180 ft.), where you’ll celebrate with a champagne toast. Descend past the deep green Ancascocha Lake (4,219 m / 18,841 ft.) to the Escuela luxury glamping site (3,967 m / 13,015 ft.) for hot showers and à la carte spa treatments.
End the day with a gourmet dinner, as you dine, your guide will share Inca legends of gods, mountain spirits, and Pachamama. As the night winds down, head to your heated bedroom tent for a restful night in the Andes.
Nature’s Splendor and Arrival to Aguas Calientes
Today’s journey unveils the trek’s most breathtaking scenery. Hike through highlands filled with condors, lush valleys, hummingbirds, and vibrant orchids. After 4.5 hours, reach Hatun Rumiyoc (2,961 m / 9,714 ft.) to bid farewell to your trekking crew.
Descend to Ollantaytambo (2,792 m / 9160 ft.) for lunch, with an optional visit to the archaeological complex, then board the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes (2,070 m / 6,791 ft.). Upon arrival, a friendly team member will escort you to your luxury hotel to relax, finalize plans for Machu Picchu, and enjoy a delicious dinner before a restful night.
A Dream Comes True: Tour the Magical Machu Picchu!

We started planning our trip in 2019 for 2020 but with the pandemic we had to postpone to Sept 2021. We just returned from our 5 day, 4 nigh Salkentay Trek. The experience above all expectations. Elvira and Milton seamlessly worked with us to reschedule our trip.
Their extensive knowledge, infectious enthusiasm, and supportive nature made the trek both enjoyable and enriching. They also doubled as amazing photographers, capturing the breathtaking scenery for us.
All the others that helped support our trekking and glamping tour along the way were top tier people and we hold a warm place in our hearts for all they did to make sure our time in the incredible Peruvian mountains was memorable.
The organization is amazing, and I would recommend it to any type of traveler. They anticipated all of our need and exceeded expectations.
We had the most unforgettable trip of a life time. View Peru is a top notch tour company.
