Itinerary: Choquequirao Trek

Day 1 - Day 1 Cusco - Saywite - Chiquiska (L, D)

The Journey Begins: First Steps to Choquequirao

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Cusco (or a boxed breakfast provided by the hotel), our expert guide will escort you in private transfer to the starting point of the trek. You’ll make a brief stop in the town of Curahuasi (2,688 m / 8,819 ft.) to purchase any last-minute essentials. Our journey continues with a visit to the fascinating Saywite site (3,630 m / 11,910 ft.), renowned for its enigmatic stone formations. Then, you’ll enjoy a premier picnic lunch at Capuliyoc (2,956 m / 9,698 ft.) before beginning your trek.

As we hike, take in the breathtaking views of the Apurimac Valley and the snow-capped Padreyoc Mountain (5,771 m / 18,934 ft.). Upon arriving at our first luxurious campsite at Chiquiska (1,890 m / 6,201 ft.), nestled in the heart of the stunning Apurimac Canyon, gather for the “Ofrenda a la Madre Tierra.” This is a powerful ceremony where we express our gratitude and reverence for Pachamama, the Mother Earth.

Before dinner, rejuvenate with a hot shower and unwind in our lavish massage tent, where you can enjoy a relaxing spa treatment to soothe your muscles. Choose from a selection of à la carte treatments—from deep muscle relief to hot stones and aromatherapy—all tailored to your specific needs.  Afterward, indulge in a gourmet dinner, artfully created with organic ingredients by our talented chef in our dining tent. As the evening winds down, retreat to your cozy, heated tent, to drift off under the stars after an enchanting first day in the heart of nature.
