PERU AND ITS CULTURE min 1024x1024 1

One of the Peruvian great expectations is about the Peruvian people. And it is that the mixture of races that exists in this beautiful country, makes its people in general to be the most friendly and helpful.  As the Peruvian culture is primarily rooted in Amerindian traditions, mainly Inca, and Hispanic heritage. It has also been influenced by various European, African, and Asian ethnic groups. Peruvian artistic traditions date back to the elaborate pottery, textiles, jewelry, and sculpture of Pre-Inca cultures. Until recently, most people lived in the countryside. But now, more than 70 percent live in cities. Most Peruvians follow the Catholic religion introduced by the Spanish. There are many characteristics in the Peruvian families that usually have three or more children and extended family, or adult children often live together as well. Peruvian families love expressing their emotions and like to spend time together during meals and at family gatherings.

Continuing with the peculiarities of Peru, it is worth mentioning about its geography.  As the Museo Larco website mentions: Peru is situated between the equator and the Tropic of Capricorn. Because it is in the tropics, one might expect Peru to be a country of lush vegetation and extreme heat. However, the Andes Mountains and the prevailing cold offshore ocean current give Peru very different geographical characteristics. The Peruvian or Humboldt Current brings the cold waters rich in plankton from the South Pole to the Peruvian coast. Upon exposure to tropical sunshine the plankton is warmed and rises to the surface. The process of photosynthesis is accelerated near the surface and the phytoplankton’s nutritional value is increased. This produces the basis of a food chain which makes the seas off the coast of Peru the most fertile in the world.

About the Peruvian cultural richness; the unique culture of Peru is just as impressive as the country’s ruins and rainforests. Peruvian culture is a lively mix of Hispanic and native traditions. The Quechua and the Aymara are the two main native groups of Peru, and both speak their native languages in addition to Spanish.  As IPeru mention: The first thing that comes to mind when talking about Peru are Machu Picchu and the delicious experience when trying its gastronomy. Because Peru is the meaning of culture, ancient history and endless flavors served on the table. A tourist destination that many want to visit and that nobody should miss. However, the Inca country encompasses much more: in addition to having the most famous ruins on the planet located in Cusco and its avant-garde dishes, it is also notable for its incredible biodiversity. Many will wonder what it takes to be considered a biodiverse or mega diverse country? They are all those nations in which there is diversity of unique plant and animal species. To be considered megadiverse, flora species must exceed 5000 unique specimens and have marine ecosystems within their borders.

As mentioned, Peru has all; from the north coast full of sun and beaches all year round, passing through the archaeological sites of Chiclayo (with its pre-Inca culture) and La Libertad (with the very famous Chan Chan), following the road to Lima, the capital of the country. beautiful colonial and modern city that has all the history of the conquest, beautiful and cheerful neighborhoods to the most extraordinary cuisine on the planet.

Continuing to the near south where we can find the beautiful bay and Natural Reserve of Paracas and the enigmatic Nazca lines. Continuing with the beautiful white city, Arequipa and all its incredible cultural wealth and its Colca Canyon, to go up to the plateau of Puno with its beautiful Lake Titicaca with genuine islands, until reaching the navel of the world; Cuzco; with all its history and culture that you will never finish knowing, necessarily mentioning one of the seven wonders of the modern world, Machu Picchu with its impressive sites being the best way to get there by the famous Inca trail

We cannot fail to mention the beautiful cities of Huaraz and its high snowy peaks, Ayacucho with its living culture and the immense jungle with its Amazon River and much more… what can I say? Peru has so much…!
