Suggestions & Restrictions

  • Train stations and train schedules are subject to availability, also due to rainy season Poroy train station is closed from January to April of each year.
  • Please consider that our prices from 2 people onward are based on double and triple accommodation, if you would like to have a single tent there will be an adittional suplement, consult prices with your travel specialist.
  • The walking sticks are not included, but if you prefer we can arrange to provide you a pair of basic poles (Standard Brand) without any charges; you just need to ask in advance to your travel specialist.
  • If you would like to have another short hike to experience Machu Picchu from a different perspective, for instance you can choose to hike Huayna Picchu Mountain for a great panoramic view and uncover different archaeological sites or climb Machu Picchu Mountain to enjoy this ancient wonder from the highest vantage point in almost complete solitude. Please take in mind that these hikes are unguided, require an additional cost and involve starting the hike at 03:00 am on the 4th day. If you are interested, please consult with your travel specialist as we need to check availability far in advance.

Day 1CUSCO – TARAYOC – WAYLLABAMBA (L, D)

Prepare for the adventure that today will start; walks, efforts, delights, pleasure to start the world’s known Inca Trail; a route that will take you through different and incredible places and histories

Start with an early pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. After breakfast (or box breakfast) our expert guide will board you into your private transportation to Km 82, where the beginning of our trek is situated. On route, take a break to Ollantaytambo (2792 m./ 9160.1 ft.) town. Have some time to explore and pick up any last minute supplies.

In continuation, we will drive for 40 min to reach Km 82, also known as Piscacucho (2675 m. / 8776.3 ft.) Porters and support staff will prepare all of the last remaining details in order to make sure that everybody has a memorable experience.

Follow the steps of the Incas, as you embark on your once-in-a-lifetime adventure. After hiking for approximately 4 hours, your arrival will be at the Tarayoc site (2675 m./ 8776.3 ft.) where lunch will be served. Then, a hike for 2 hours will take you to Wayllabamba (2970 m./ 9744.1 ft.) a lovely village where our campsite will be awaiting you. Before dinner, you will have time to rest around nature. Afterwards, you will visit the dining tent to enjoy the food prepared by our cook and later have a good sleep.

• Minimum altitude: Km 82 (2675 masl / 8776.3 ft.)
• Maximum altitude: Wayllabamba campsite (2970 masl / 9744.1 ft.)
• Distance covered: 11 km. / 6.8 mi. (6 hours walking approx.)
• Difficulty: Moderate.
• Meals included: Snacks, lunch, tea time and dinner.

Day 2WAYLLABAMBA – LLULLUCHAPAMPA – PACAYMAYO (B, L, D)

An intense and spectacular day.  Some extreme effort but with the very amazing views.  Your will have you reward…you will see

A wholesome breakfast will be awaiting you as soon, so that we can commence our 1.5-hour hike to the Ravine of Ayapata (3328 m. / 10918.7 ft.) Walk 3 hours, with short breaks to rest. Finally, reach Llulluchapampa (3760 m. / 12335.9 ft.) where lunch is served. This part of the humid Andean forest is the perfect location to admire while enjoying your food and your thoughts as you catch a glimpse of Warmiwañusca Pass, famously known as the Death Woman’s pass.

Restart your next part of the hike in order to reach the Warmiwañusca Pass (4215 m. / 13828.7 ft.) that will take approximately 2.5 hours. Take your time with this hike, as it is strenuous, but very worthy. Commencing our descent to Pacaymayo Ravine (3500 m. / 11482.9 ft.) for the following 2 hours, you will make it to the campsite. Have dinner, and enjoy a peaceful sleep in order to feel energized for the following day.

• Minimum altitude: Ayapata site (3328 masl / 10918.7 ft.)
• Maximum altitude: Warmiwañusca Pass (4215 masl / 13828.7 ft.)
• Distance covered: 9 kms/5.6 mls (9 hours walking approx.)
• Difficulty: Challenging.
• Meals included: Breakfast, snacks, lunch, tea time and dinner.

Day 3PACAYMAYO – CHAQUICOCHA – PHUYUPATAMARCA (B, L, D)

Complexes, roots, routes, ups and downs to continue with the Incas history with its rich culture

Today after breakfast, you will have a 1-hour hike through the ruins of Runkurakay and later the Runkurakay Pass (3955 m./ 12975.7 ft.) You will be able to witness the Inca trail downhill, a beautiful sight. Reach the impressive Inca town of Sayacmarca (3585 m. / 11761.8 ft). Commence our descent for an hour to Chaquicocha (3535 mts/ 11597.8 ft) where your lunch awaits.

Hike for 2.5 hours, through some a wonderfully looked after path to reach Phuyupatamarca Pass (3640 m. / 11942.3 ft). A few meters above a small stone tunnel is where your campsite is located, called Phuyupatamarca (3670 mts/ 12040.7 ft). Find a delicious dinner ready. This will be the final night with the crew, therefore we recommend sharing a toast with them for all their hard work and effort.

• Minimum altitude: Chaquicocha site (3535 masl / 11597.8 ft.)
• Maximum altitude: Runkurakay Pass (3955 masl / 12975.7 ft).
• Distance covered: 9 km. /5.6 mi. (5.5 hours walking approx.)
• Difficulty: Moderate.
• Meals included: Breakfast, snacks, lunch, tea time and dinner.

Day 4PHUYUPATAMARCA - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO (B)

After so much effort and hiking, your reward will come; just have this last day hoping to see of the worlds wonder; jus your last effort to see the marvel

For your final day of hiking, wake up at 4:30am in order to enjoy your breakfast, and to carry on with the hike. Arrive at Wiñaywayna archaeological site (2650 m. / 8694.2 ft.), the orchids land. Carrying on with the hike, ascend for 1.5 hours to reach the Sun Gate or Intipunku (2750 m. /9022.3 ft.) Descend down in order to reach Machu Picchu where you will spend an hour. The time has finally arrived where you will make it to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World (2430 m. / 7972.4 ft.). In your final location, you will be accompanied by your knowledgeable guide, explaining to you the many secrets and theories this citadel envelopes. After your guided tour you will be free to roam and take some beautiful photos of this majestic structure at your own leisure.

Head down to Aguas Calientes, on time to board your standard train back to Cusco. Once you have arrived, you will be greeted by a representative at the train station who will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.
