Suggestions & Restrictions

  • On day 3, if you are interested, you can complement your trek with a visit of Ollantaytambo archaeological complex for an additional cost; please feel free to consult with your travel specialist.
  • Also on day 3, please note that the last bus up to the citadel departs at 16:00 pm, for this reason we will book a hotel in Aguas Calientes. If you prefer Belmond Sanctuary Lodge there will be additional costs for modifying the itinerary.
  • Please consider that our prices from 2 people onward are based on double and triple accommodation, if you would like to have a single tent then the supplement will be of $ 249.00 per person.
  • Train stations and train schedules are subject to availability, also due to rainy season Poroy train station is closed from January to April of each year.
  • The walking sticks are not included, but if you prefer we can arrange to provide you a pair of basic poles (Standard Brand) without any charges; you just need to ask in advance to your travel specialist.

Itinerary

Day 1CUSCO – PEROLNIYOC WATERFALL - RAYANNIYOC (L, D)

Start with an early breakfast at your Cusco hotel (or box breakfast), and our expert guide will transfer you to our trekking starting point, the Socma community (3190 m. / 10465.9 ft.) to learn about remote communities of Cusco.

The trek starts uphill for 1.5 hours toward Perolniyoc Waterfall (3500 m. / 11482.9 ft.) Take wonderful photos and also have a short rest. Continue for another hour until reaching the archaeological site of Raqaypata (3600 m. / 11811.0 ft.). The luxury campsite is 15 minutes away, Rayanniyoc (3680 m. / 12073.5 ft.) to enjoy lunch. Enjoy your free time, join us in a yoga session.

Following this rewarding experience, return to our campsite and relish with a hot shower and a session of relaxing massages. Visit our dining tent for an organic gourmet dinner and rest with the magical silence of nature in your private luxury heated bedroom tent.

Day 2RAYANNIYOC – SUN GATE - CHOQUETACARPO (B, L, D)

Being the first sunrise in our campsite, rise early for breakfast. Continue the walk for 4 hours to reach the top of the first pass and learn about the advanced agriculture techniques. Once we reach Puccaqasa Pass (4400 m. / 14435.7 ft) appreciate the view of the whole valley and astonishing views of the snowy Mountain range. Have lunch in our exclusive place in the Andes..

Later, continue for 2 hours more until Buena Negra Pass (4500 m. /14763.8 ft.). Be rewarded with terrific views of the Sacred Valley, small lakes and imposing peaks of Veronica or Waqay Willka. Time to cheer as it is the highest point of the trek!

Begin the 2.5 hours descent towards Inti Punku or Sun Gate (3900 m. / 12795.3 ft) with spectacular views of the lush flora and picturesque valley ahead. Reach our last luxury campsite,Choquetacarpo (3770 m. / 12368.8 ft.) Enjoy a well-deserved hot shower and soothing massages. Then, it is time for our delicate gourmet dinner and then indulge on your cozy bedroom tent for a soundly sleep.

Day 3CHOQUETACARPO – AGUAS CALIENTES (B, L, D)

After breakfast, prepare for our last portion of the hike. In a 1 hour hike, have a unique view of the Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo. Once we reach Cachicata quarry (3570 m. / 11712.6 ft.) a time travel starts as your guide explains the past of this haunting piece of Inca architecture.

Following this enlightening visit, continue descending for 3.5 hours and reach Ollantaytambo town (2792 m. / 9160.1 ft.) Say goodbye and thank the trekking crew for all of the outstanding quality service. Have a delectable lunch at a cozy restaurant. Board our Vistadome train and arrive at Aguas Calientes Town (2070 m. / 6791.3 ft) by 17:02 pm. Be escorted to the hotel of your selection.

Coordinate with your guide the pick-up time for the following day, delight with a well-deserved dinner (included with your accommodation) and have a restful sleep in a luxurious room.

Day 4AGUAS CALIENTES- MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (B, L)

Early in the morning, our guide will pick you up from your hotel to catch the bus to the citadel for a 30 mins ride and, if weather allows it, see the sunrise over this Lost City of the Incas.

Welcome to Machu Picchu (2430 m. / 7972.4 ft.), the true evidence of the Incas dexterity in engineering and architecture. It shows a magnificent citadel hidden on the mountains and the vast valleys. The well-informed guide will teach you about the magnificent theories and beauty of Machu Picchu.

To end your time at Machu Picchu, enjoy a delightful lunch at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge Hotel. Later, take the bus departing back to Aguas Calientes and board your train. Upon arrival, our representative will collect you in our private vehicle and take you to your hotel in Cusco.
